Facebook and social networking on mycharity.ie

For Users

When you take an action such as "sponsor a friend", "donate to a charity", or "create a fundraising page" on the mycharity.ie site, you have the option to post a message to your profile on FB telling all your friends what you have just done, and encouraging them to do the same. This is a fantastic way for you to support your charity. It doesn’t cost you anything and the benefit to the charity is huge in terms of awareness of the organization and the fantastic work that they do. We explain each of the new Facebook features below.
  1. When you get to the confirmation page for your donation to your friends fundraising page you will have the option to "Share on Facebook". When you click on this and login to FB you will be able to post a message like the one shown here. You can edit the message as you wish. The post will appear on your profile as shown here. The post will also appear on all of your friends "feeds" so they can see your post and hopefully donate to your charity too by clicking on the "make a donation" link at the bottom of the post.

  3. Create a Fundraising Page

    When you get to the confirmation page for creating your fundraising page you will have the option to "Share on Facebook". When you click on this and login to FB you will be able to post a message like the one shown here. You can edit the message as you wish. The post will appear on your profile as shown here. The post will also appear on all of your friends "feeds" so they can see your post and hopefully donate to your fundraising event by clicking on the "make a donation" link at the bottom of the post.

  4. Remind your friends about your fundraising page

    When you have created your fundraising page you will want to remind your friends about it occasionally, to donate to it or to update them on how your fundraising is going. Login to your account on mycharity.ie and go to "Contact your Friends" tab in your account. Click on the "Share on Facebook" link as shown here. When you click on this you will be able to post a message like the one shown here. You can edit the message as you wish. The post will appear on your profile as shown here. The post will also appear on all of your friends "feeds" so they can see your post and hopefully donate to your fundraising event by clicking on the "make a donation" link at the bottom of the post.

  5. Share a charity

    When you are in a charities profile you will see a "Share" Box on the page. When you click on this and login to your social networking site you will be able to post a message promoting the charity on your profile. You can edit the message as you wish. The post will appear on your profile as shown in the Facebook example here. Your friends can share-on the fundraising page by clicking on the "share" link at the bottom on the post.

  6. Share a fundraising page

    When you are on a fundraising page you will see a "Share" Box on the page. When you click on this and login to your social networking site you will be able to post a message promoting the fundraising page on your profile. You can edit the message as you wish. The post will appear on your profile as shown in the Facebook example here. Your friends can share-on the fundraising page by clicking on the "share" link at the bottom on the post.

  7. Login to mycharity.ie using Facebook Connect

    This is a very useful feature if you are a fundraiser or other regular user of mycharity.ie. You can "link" your account on mychairty.ie with your account on Facebook and use your Facebook login to details to login to the mycharity.ie site.

    You just click on "Connect with Facebook" on the login screen as shown here and the site will lead you through establishing the link between your mycharity.ie account and your Facebook account. Once the link is established you just click on "Connect with Facebook" every time you wish to login to mycharity.ie using your Facebook login details.

For Charities

  1. Let your supporters do their fundraising and promote your organization through Facebook and other social networking sites

    Your supporters can do their fundraising through Facebook have the ability to promote your organization using Facebook and many other social networking sites. To see a full list of what your supporters (users) can do scroll up this page.

  2. Track donations that come through Facebook

    The mycharity.ie system will track all donations that originate from Facebook and report them to you in the donations part of the reporting system, under the "source" heading, as in the example shown here.

  3. Create posts to your organisations Facebook page about your events on mycharity.ie

    When you are logged in as a charity admin on mycharity.ie, in events section you will see a "Share on Facebook" button beside each event. When you click on this and login to FB you will be able to post a message like the one shown here to your organisations Facebook page. You can edit the message as you wish. The post will appear on your Facebook page as shown here.

  4. Post comments to your FB page from the mycharity.ie website

    When you are logged in as a charity admin on mycharity.ie, in "Charity Details / Facebook Connect" section you will see a "Facebook Messaging" area. When you type in the text you wish to post and click "Send Post" you will be able to post a message like the one shown here to your organisations Facebook page. You can edit the message as you wish. The post will appear on your Facebook page as shown here.

  5. Login to mycharity.ie using Facebook Connect

    This is a very useful feature if you are a charity administrator or other regular user of mycharity.ie. You can "link" your account on mychairty.ie with your account on Facebook and use your Facebook login details to login to the mycharity.ie site.

    You just click on "Connect with Facebook" on the login screen as shown here and the site will lead you through establishing the link between your mycharity.ie account and your Facebook account. Once the link is established you just click on "Connect with Facebook" every time you wish to login to mycharity.ie using your Facebook login details.
