Just above the area that you type the text for your blog post there is a line of text that says "Add media" followed by some symbols for pictures, video, music etc. Just click on the symbol, image in this posts case. A screen opens up which allows you to select your image. To finish just click "insert in post" at the bottom of the screen you are on. That's it! Couldn't be more simple. We've inserted our logo below. We are sure you can be more imaginative. Maybe some pics of your last or latest fundraising event!

It's definitely Marathon season. Donations have surged from our average of 12,000 euro per day to 18,000 euro per day. To all the many Adidas Dublin Marathon 2009 runners out there we at mycharity.ie would like to wish you the very best of luck in your final weeks of training and on the day. If you are fundraising for a charity, well done to you. If not you may like to consider running for one of the 265+ charities on mycharity.ie.

To all the charities out there......there are many many willing potential fundraisers that would happily run the Dublin Marathon for you. Often all you have to do is ask!! Contact your local running club. They may have some runners that will run for you.

As you know we launched the mycharity.ie online direct debit system two weeks ago. There has been huge interest in the service and many charities have signed up already.

There's only a week left of the September special offer of 200 euro+VAT for the DD service for the year. Some of the charities that spoke to us said that it would be a good idea to highlight the last week of the special offer so all charities could avail of it.....so here we are highlighting it!

Remember the normal pricing after September will be 300 euro+VAT per year, so make sure to avail of the 200 euro+VAT special offer while you can!

Just call Aoife in the office on 01-2409388 and she will switch it on for you.

Yes, our first direct debit donor signed up to a DD for their favourite charity today! And they did it for the magic 22.00 euro per month, which means the charity can claim back the tax that the donor paid on the donation amount. All in all the 22.00 euro per month is actually worth about 430.00 euro per year to the charity!!

Altogether 232,610.14 euro was raised for charities through mycharity.ie in August. There were 460 new fundraising pages created. 5359 people made a donation on the site. The average donation value was 43 euro and the largest donation was a very generous 1,250 euro!

1. To Express Your Thoughts and Opinions

You have something to say, and blogs provide a place to say it and be heard.

2. To Market or Promote Something

Blogging is a great way to help market or promote yourself or your business, product or service.

3. To Help People

Many blogs are written to help people who may be going through similar situations that the blogger has experienced. Many parenting and health-related blogs are written for this purpose.

4. To Establish Yourself as an Expert

Blogs are wonderful tools to help bloggers establish themselves as experts in a field or topic. For example, if you're trying to get a job in a specific field or hoping to publish a book on a specific topic, blogging can help legitimize your expertise and expand your online presence and platform.

5. To Connect with People Like You

Blogging brings like-minded people together. Starting a blog can help you find those people and share your opinions and thoughts.

6. To Make a Difference

Many blogs are issue-based meaning the blogger is trying to provide information to sway people's thinking in a certain direction. Many political blogs and social issues blogs are written by bloggers who are trying to make a difference in their own ways.

7. To Stay Active or Knowledgeable in a Field or Topic

Since successful blogging is partially dependent on posting frequency and providing updated, fresh information, it's a perfect way to help a blogger stay abreast of the events in a specific field or topic.

8. To Stay Connected with Friends and Family

The world has shrunk since the Internet has become more accessible. Blogs provide a simple way for family and friends to stay connected from different parts of the world by sharing stories, photos, videos and more.

9. To Make Money

It's important to point out that most bloggers don't make a lot of money blogging, but the potential does exist to generate revenue from your blog with hard work and commitment. There are many bloggers who bring in big bucks. With patience and practice, you can make money through advertising and other income-generating activities on your blog.

10. To Have Fun and Be Creative

Many people start a blog simply for fun. Perhaps a blogger is a fan of a particular actor or loves knitting and wants to share that passion through a blog. One of the most important keys to successful blogging is having a passion about your blog's topic, so you can write prolifically about it. Some of the best and most interesting blogs started out as blogs that were written just for fun and to give the blogger a creative outlet.

I actually wrote this post and the previous two posts (Why your should blog!, and Check your posts in MS Word) within the space of 20 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. You'd never know though. On the right hand side of the control panel, the "Publish" box has a "scheduled for" option. Its default is "immediately", but you can set it for each post for a future date and time. So you can spend an hour on your blog one day a week....write seven articles or posts in the hour....and schedule each post for release at the rate of one per day....and it looks like you are updating your blog on a daily basis. How cool is that!

Spelling and grammar mistakes are so easy to miss, but your readers will spot them straight away! The spellchecker is that ABC button with the tick going through it. You'll see it when you are creating or editing your post. Very handy. I was doing this using MS Word but there are formatting issues with cutting and pasting from Word, so it's probably best avoided.
