My Personal Message I may not have much hair. (Left.) (On my head. )So I've decided that I should make the most of it while it's still there, and as such, I'm taking part in Today FM's Shave Or Dye 2012 to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society. I'll admit, I'm not brave enough to shave it all off (really, I'm just scared it won't grow back if I do) so instead, I'm dyeing my hair. Here's the catch: I haven't decided what colour yet. And if I raise enough money, I might even go for several different colours. Maybe even a different colour every week/fortnight? Who knows? All I know is that "Cosmic Blue" is first stop on the journey, and yes, I will include pictures. (Since it'll be easier to go from red to blue than blue to red...it's red now. Blue will be next. Promise.) Two years ago, I lost both of my grandfathers to cancer (within the space of a month) so this is a cause really close to my heart. So please, give what you can. And then add another €10 to that, because what are you going to buy with a tenner? You can donate securely using that shiny button over there on the left <<<<<<< UPDATE AS OF 15TH FEB!! I've upped the game. Having been astounded by people's generosity, I've decided when I get to €750, I'm gonna shave it all off. That's right...you see that bit up there in the second paragraph where I said I'm scared of it not growing back. I still am. But I'm gonna do it anyway. Already, people have been really generous. Like...REALLY generous. So...here's the thing. If everyone I know on Twitter and Facebook, everyone who hasn't donated yet, if all you guys gave just €1...I'd meet that target. If you gave a €5...that target would be blown out of the water. €750. Shaving AND dyeing. It's worth it, right? About my charity Today FM's Shave or Dye is an annual charity drive to benefit the Irish Cancer Society. Our inaugural campaign in 2010 saw Today FM presenters ask listeners to sponsor them to shave and dye their hair, and in turn ask them to do the same. The response was phenomenal, as people across the length and breadth of the country raised more than €800,000 for the Irish Cancer Society. We did it all again in early 2011 with an even bigger number of people taking part nationwide and sacrificing their hair for the greater good. We smashed a world record in the process, and even went international with the Irish Cricket Team sporting shaves and dyes in their historic World Cup victory over England. Today FM's Shave or Dye 2011 we raised a phenomal €1,317,000. This year we want to get as many heads as possible involved in Today FM's Shave or Dye so tell your family, friends and work colleagues - if they can't shave or dye then get them to sponsor you to take part.
