My Personal Message

Hey Guys,

Thanks for visiting the YBIG Carling Fans Nations Cup fund-raising page. Headway Ireland is a very worthy cause and we would very much appreciate your support in helping us to raise funds for this charity.

You Boys in Green ( www.ybig.ie ) is an Ireland football fans website and as part of the Carling Nations Cup at the Aviva Stadium in 2011, supporters teams from the respective countries participating are raising funds for their chosen charities.

In order to foster good relations, each countries' supporters have agreed to play each other in a Fans competition to run in tandem and this too will kick of on Tuesday at Irishtown Stadium when the fans of the Republic host Wales with a kick off at 1.30pm while Northern Ireland play Scotland at the same venue and start time on Wednesday 10 February.

Please read a few words about the charity that we have chosen to support below. You can donate using the "sponsor me now" button below via credit or debit card. You can be assured that your transaction on the mycharity.ie website is very secure. You will automatically receive an e-mail from thanking you for your support, and acknowledging the amount of your donation. Any donation no matter how small is hugely appreciated.

Many thanks in advance for your support,

John aka soccerc & all at YBIG

About my charity

Headway

Headway, the National Association for Acquired Brain Injury.

How a brain injury affects people

A brain injury can happen suddenly to anyone after an accident, a stroke, or an infection, for example. It can make it difficult for them to return to work or study, to enjoy a social life, to communicate fully with other people, or even to live independently.

How Headway makes a difference

“The Headway staff were always there – building up my confidence and helping me set new goals.” Sinead, a Dublin Rehabilitative Day Services client.

“After my accident, I started going to Headway. I learned how to cook and use computers, and relearned how to read and write. Headway gave me a reason to get up every morning.” John, a Rehabilitative Services Trainee in Cork.

“Your reply to my e-mail didn’t just give me information. I found it very reassuring that I am able to keep in contact for further help.” Michael, from Limerick.

Headway develops, promotes and provides much needed services for all those affected by an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).

Our mission is to bring about positive change in the lives of all those affected by acquired brain injury.

An ABI can be caused by the following

  • A road traffic accident
  • An assault
  • A tumour
  • Surgery
  • Viral infection
  • Stroke
  • Brain haemorrhage
  • Lack of oxygen
