My Personal Message
Hi,
Thank you for visiting the Tricia McCarthy breast cancer fundraising page. All funds raised from this are donated to National Breast Cancer Research Institute.
In 2007, my sister Tricia at 27 years of age, was diagnosed with breast cancer. For three years, she fought a courageous battle against the cancer. Many a time, she was close to death’s door but she always managed to pull through. Despite all the hardships she went through, including long chemo treatments and a mastectomy, she always managed to remain upbeat. Sadly on the 8th of February, 2010, she passed away.
Although it is too late for Tricia, I feel that I had to do something to prevent this happening to other families. So, from the 13th of August to the 1st of October, I'm ran over a thousand miles in fifty days (twenty miles a day) for charity. The money raised from is being donated to the National Breast Cancer Research Institute where it will be used in the fight against breast cancer.

About my charity
Breast Cancer Research ( NBCRI ) National Breast Cancer Research Institute
The key objective of the NBCRI is to conduct relevant, ethical research into the biology of breast cancer to determine the cause of this disease and improve the treatment for patients. The NBCRI also works to raise awareness of breast cancer and fundraise to provide improved breast cancer services for women throughout Ireland.
Under the directorship of Professor Michael Kerin and his team, the research work of the NBCRI is now recognised internationally and we collaborate with a number of research facilities throughout the world. The NBCRI team have recently made a world class research breakthrough and we hope that within a few years a simple blood test will be capable of detecting breast cancer. Your support will assist us to continue our valuable work and progress this exciting research.
