My Personal Message

Hey Guys,

Thanks for visiting our personal fundraising page. The charity that we have chosen to support is the RNLI Bundoran Lifeboat. We feel that this is a very worthy cause and we would very much appreciate your support in helping us to raise funds for this organisation.

We are a small group of hardy local swimmers/surfers who are going to swim across Donegal Bay this September. We plan to swim across the 12-14 km stretch of treacherous sea from St Johns Point to Mullaghmore Harbour. We hope to complete this marathon swim in somewhere between 3.5 and 5 hours.

OUR SWIM TOOK PLACE ON SATURDAY 14th SEPT. EVERYTHING WENT ACCORDING TO PLAN. SWIMMING TIME APROX 4 hrs.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE SWIMMERS AND A HUGE THANK YOU TO KILLIAN O'KELLY, CIARAN DUFFY AND KEALAN MCNULTY FROM TURF n' SURF BUNDORAN. OUR GRATTITUDE AND THANKS TO OUR SUPPORT BOAT SUPPLIED AND SKIPPERED BY KAROL MCNERN FROM BALLYSHANNON.

EVERY DONATION, REGARDLESS OF HOW SMALL IS STILL VERY MUCH APPRECIATED, DONATIONS CAN STILL BE MADE HERE UNTIL MID OCTOBER.

Photos and further details are available in local press and here: www.facebook/thebigbayswim

RNLI

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. We provide, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the UK and Ireland, and a seasonal lifeguard service. With our lifeboats, safety advice and flood rescue, we are committed to preventing tragedies and tackling the international drowning epidemic.

Our work is based on and driven by our values. Our volunteers and staff srive for excellence and are ...

  • Selfless: willing to put the requirements of others before our own and the needs of the team before the individual, able to see the bigger picture and act in the best interests of the RNLI, and to be inclusive and respectful of others. Prepared to share our expertise with organisations that share our aims.
  • Dependable: always available, committed to doing our part in saving lives with professionalism and expertise, continuously developing and improving. Working in and for the community and delivering on our promises.
  • Trustworthy: responsible, accountable and efficient in the use of the donations entrusted to us by our supporters, managing our affairs with transparency, integrity and impartiality.
  • Courageous: prepared to achieve our aims in changing and challenging environments. We are innovative, adaptable and determined in our mission to save more lives at sea.

The RNLI in Ireland has 43 lifeboat stations operating 55 lifeboats in order to provide a ring of safety around the Irish coastline. This fleet enables the lifeboat service to reach at least 90% of all casualties that are within 10 nautical miles of lifeboat stations within 30 minutes of launch, in all weathers. Last year Irish Lifeboats launched 976 times and rescued over 1,057 people.
