My Personal Message
Note to all sponsors: We completed the cycle over two days in 10.5hrs. Weather was awful but the craic was mighty. All crossed the finish line relatively unharmed. We had one faller on a rail track and one puncture before we even got going. Big thank you to those who contibuted to making our trip from Galway easier - Thanks to Paul Taaffe (Athlone Springs Hotel), Peter Conneely (Under Armour), John O'Brien (OB Sports), Emer Dunne (Anatomic Ltd - Masseuse), Barbara Culleton (Bective PRO), Mark Behan (Lucozade) and secial thanks to our two safety drivers Ron and Shaun.
Hi All,
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. The Stuart Mangan Trust charity is a very worthy cause and we would very much appreciate your support in helping us to raise funds for this charity.
We have decided to organise a "Coast to Coast" fundraising cycle which will be completed by 6 Senior players from the Bective Rangers First Team. The cycle will cover 225km from Salthill Beach (Galway) to Sandymount Beach (Dublin). Our travel plans are as follows;
Depart Salhill Sat 20th Dec @ 7am
Arrive Athlone Sat PM (stay the night)
Depart Athlone Sun 21st Dec @ 7am
Arrive Sandymount Sun PM
We plan to have six cyclists and 2 cars (one at the front and rear carrying repair equipment and supplies - not cyclists!). Please remember that we are not trained cyclists, we will be using normal mountain/road bikes, we will not have any special training, we are simply doing this to raise money for Stuart.
Please read a few words about the charity that we have chosen to support below. You can donate using the "sponsor me now" button below via credit or debit card. You can be assured that your transaction on the mycharity.ie website is very secure. You will automatically receive an e-mail from us thanking you for your support, and acknowledging the amount of your donation. Any donation no matter how small is hugely appreciated.
Many thanks in advance for your support,

Stuart Mangan Trust
Stuart Mangan, the 26 year old from Fermoy in Co. Cork, who suffered a severe spinal injury while playing rugby in London in April 2008, has sadly passed away. He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London on Thursday as a result of respiratory problems and passed away peacefully on Friday 7th August in the presence of his parents Brian and Una and his three brothers Keith, John and Barry. During his short life Stuart showed incredible energy, enthusiasm and love for people. Since his accident he has inspired many with his courage and greatly increased his circle of friends. In this way, he has left us all a great legacy. The family would like to thank all those who supported them during the last sixteen months especially his doctors, nurses and carers. The kindness and generosity shown by people has been simply amazing. In response to Stuart’s wishes, his organs have been donated for the benefit of others. In the near future, it will be decided by all those involved how best to honour Stuart’s memory. Funeral arrangements will be announced on the website shortly. May he rest in peace. |
