My Personal Message

Hey Guys,

Thanks for visiting my personal fundraising page. The Irish Cancer Society is a very worthy cause and I would very much appreciate your support in helping me to raise funds for this charity. Not only will I be running the Lifestyle Sports/Adidas Dublin City Marathon on Monday October 26 but I will also be running in the Lifestyle Sports/Adidas Race Series Challege which will include the following events:

Irish Runner 5 Mile Challenge - July 18 2009
Frank Duffy 10 Mile Challenge - August 15 2009
Dublin City Half Marathon - September 26 2009

Now, I'm doing all of this for two reasons. The first reason is a very selfish one. I lost one of my best friends to cancer last year, someone who was in the prime of his life and somone for whom I had nothing but respect for, given the dignity with which he fought his cancer. I will be doing this series of races in memory of Alan Smyth. Let there be no panic. The second reason is that, while Alan was sick, I saw first hand how tragically underfunded cancer care is in Ireland. The Irish Cancer Society is dedicated to changing this and so I can't think of a better charity to support.

Please read a few words about the Irish Cancer Society below. You can donate using the "sponsor me now" button below via credit or debit card. You can be assured that your transaction on the mycharity.ie website is very secure. You will automatically receive an e-mail from me thanking you for your support, and acknowledging the amount of your donation. Any donation no matter how small is hugely appreciated. Also, those of you who see me day to day, feel free to sponsor me offline.

Many thanks in advance for your support,

Steve

About my charity

Irish Cancer Society

The Irish Cancer Society is the national charity dedicated to preventing cancer, saving lives from cancer and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer through patient care, research and education.

The Society is financed entirely by voluntary contributions from the public and receives no government funding. We rely on thousands of dedicated volunteers from around the country to help with our fundraising activities. We are the largest voluntary funders of Cancer Research in Ireland, and we also provide support and nursing care for people at every step of their cancer journey.

Help us continue to deliver our much needed services throughout Ireland. To see a full list of our upcoming events, please see click here (www.cancer.ie/events) and get involved! If you are setting up a fundraising page on MyCharity.ie, please register your event with us first so that we can provide you with fundraising materials and assist you with your fundraising. Contact us at CallSave 1850 60 60 60 or email fundraising@irishcancer.ie. Thank you for joining us in the fight against cancer.
