About my charity 1 in 1000 - Running for Cystic Fibrosis- Flora Mini Marathon, Monday 4 June 2012 1 in 1000 is a unique campaign by the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland (CFAI) to mobilize 1000 + women to raise as much funds as possible for new and additional isolation beds and treatment units for children and adults with CF in hospitals in Dublin, Drogheda, Castlebar and Limerick. We want this campaign to bring women all over Ireland together, raise awareness, and be an enjoyable way to support a really important cause. We are asking each woman to aim at raising €200 in sponsorship, so we can reach €200,000. Last years donations saw the opening of a new 4 bed ward for children with CF in Crumlin Hospital, the donation of €87,000 to a forthcoming CF unit for children and adults in Mayo General Hospital. Also €50,000 was raised for a forthcoming CF day care facility in Drogheda and a further €40,000 was invested in new supports for parents with newly diagnosed children with CF. We encourage women to run in teams; so maybe you can get friends, family or colleagues involved – it’s a great way to get active and work towards something empowering for yourself, your team and for those living with CF in Ireland. 1 in 1000 will bring women together for a great cause, raising spirits, awareness, support and a huge sense of achievement that could not be realised by an individual alone.
