My Personal Message
Hi, my name is Abigail. Im 10 years old and I live with my mum, dad and younger sister Kaitlyn in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. Im doing the MS READaTHON because my Mum Has MS and I want to raise money for people like her.
When I was born my mum got really sick and had to spend lots of time in hospital. The doctors did lots of tests and finally they said it was MS. I remember the first time I saw my mum in hospital. It was scary. I didnt recognise her as there were lots of wires sticking into her. But the doctors gave her medicine and she was able to come home. When my mum cant pick me up from school or is in bed when I get home I think she is getting sick again.
My mum gets really, really tired and has to sleep a lot. She gets pains in her legs and a few times she had to use a stick to help her walk.
I think MS Ireland is really good because they help my mum. Katie from MS Ireland comes over to our house now and again and my mum gets information and advice from her. Mum also goes to counselling sometimes and special exercise classes to help her legs get stronger.
I am doing the MS READaTHON this year for the 3rd time. My sister and I raised 500 last year but Cheryl and Taragh think I can raise heaps more. Why not sponsor me? I plan to read 20 books this year!
Please sponsor me and help my mum and other people with MS. I cant wait to start!
Thanks,
Abigail ;-)

The MS READaTHON is a sponsored read for young people. Run through schools and libraries, it encourages young people to read while raising money to help people with MS and their families.

About my charity
The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland
The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland is the only national organisation working solely on behalf of people living with Multiple Sclerosis and thousands more who share their lives. MS Ireland provides a wide range of services and support that are often a lifeline for some 7,000+ people living with Multiple Sclerosis. Such services include the MS Information Line, a network of professional community workers and case workers throughout Ireland and the MS Care Centre. There is also an extensive branch network throughout Ireland, our 39 branches are run entirely by volunteers. The work of MS Ireland in providing this support for people living with Multiple Sclerosis is only made possible by the valuable assistance provided by a wide range of volunteers and supporters.
