My Personal Message
Fundraising event on 22nd February.
Just getting over the shock of the Christmas day swim and Shane's birthday has come around again! This time we have 2 fundraising events. Tomorrow on the 29th Jan, 10 of us: Myself, Tony, Rowan, Niall, Leo, Ben, Cian, Dave, Barra, and Andy are doing the Hellandback challenge (Ireland's toughest 10km challenge). http://hellandback.ie/The-Course.aspx
It looked like a good idea when we were cheering on the sidelines for Graham, AJ and crew when they did this challenge back in October. Not looking quite so good now!
Then on the 22nd Feb Jake, Liam, John, and Ben are climbing Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil.
All fundraising goes to the Simon Community. So if anyone has a spare fiver...It's a really good cause. If you don't, that's ok too! As usual Shane's aunties and uncles who are abroad are not getting off lightly and will have to pay not to do it!
Leonie and Tony x
P.S Many thanks to Graham, AJ and crew who did the "Hellandback" challange for Shane's Homeless Fund. They raised 1,200 euro. Well done to you guys! You can check their page out here...

Hey Guys,
As you all know Shane was known in college as an craoi mor (big heart). Is that the right spelling lucy? He had a big passion helping the homeless, even giving half his grant money to a homeless guy that he met. I know he is looking down on you all and is so proud of you, just as he was when he was here! Thank you all for your support whether you have money to donate or not..you,re all brill.
Thanks for visiting Shane's fundraising page. The Dublin Simon Community charity is a very worthy cause and I would very much appreciate your support in helping us to raise funds for this charity.
Any donation no matter how small is hugely appreciated.
Many thanks in advance for your support,
leonie, tony and shane. |
About my charity
Dublin Simon Community
Dublin Simon Community has been working since 1969 to combat homelessness in Dublin. Founded in 1969 by a group of students from Trinity and UCD, Dublin Simon Community has developed since those days to work with over 2,000 people every year. We help the most vulnerable in our society to break the vicious cycle of homelessness by empowering them to take control of their lives with the purpose of finding and maintaining a place they can call home. For many this starts with a cup of soup, a friendly face and a safe and warm space to spend the night. Our Vision Everyone who is homeless, or is at risk of becoming homeless has the support they need to access and maintain a home of their own. Our Mission To provide high quality services to the most marginalised homeless persons to eliminate long-term homelessness.
