My Personal Message
For over a decade Mark Pollock was known as an inspiration, an adventure athlete, competing in the world’s harshest environments despite becoming completely blind at the age of 22.On the night of the 2ndof July 2010 everything changed again. He fell from a second floor window fracturing his skull, some ribs and breaking his back in a number of places leaving him paralysed from the waist down.
The Mark Pollock Trust hopes to raise significant funds to assist with the capital and ongoing costs specifically associated with his spinal injury - including a team of rehabilitation specialists, physiotherapy equipment, visits to specialised spinal injury activity-based recovery centres and mobility solutions.
As an active, sporty person, I could not imagine anything worse than being paralysed, losing my independence and my ability to participate in the sports I love. But coupled with blindness, it is barely comprehendible, yet a cruel reality for Mark. We have all had short-term illnesses or injuries, but recover from them knowing we will soon be back to full strength. Sadly not everyone has this luxury. This is why I have chosen this charity and I hope you will contribute.
In order to raise money I am taking part in The Fight III, which involves 8 weeks of intensive training and culminates in a 3 round fight on Saturday 10th March in the Europa Hotel. There are also tickets available to those who would like to watch, however that does not go towards my charity.
Many thanks in advance for your support,
Pauline

About my charity
Mark Pollock Trust
The Mark Pollock Trust has been set up and launched by friends and family of blind adventurer, international motivational speaker and Commonwealth Games rowing medallist Mark Pollock after the tragic accident that has left him paralysed from the waist down. The aim of the Mark Pollock Trust is to raise funds to assist with the ongoing financial implications of his spinal injury. This includes a team of care and rehabilitation specialists, physiotherapy equipment, visits to specialised spinal injury recovery centres and mobility solutions. The money raised will help Mark lead a full and independent life and enable him to break through the mental and physical barriers of paralysis and blindness. Go to www.markpollocktrust.org to learn more and get involved.
