My Personal Message
Hi everybody,
I have decided to take part in the ISPCA challenge of raising €5,000 (approx $6,350 USD) to help save the Orangutans of Borneo rain forest, Indonesia, from extinction.
By participating in the ISPCA Borneo Challenge, you will not only be helping cruelly treated and neglected animals in Ireland. You will also be helping to support the indigenous habitat, people and animals of North East Asia by engaging in green eco tourism.

These beautiful creatures are predicted to have just 10 years left of survival. I am doing this by taking part in trekking the highest peak of south east Asia at 4,101 meters, Mount Kinabalu. This will require a serious amount of training to take on such a challenge. The trek begins on the 5th of July 2010 until the 18th of July.
Following our successful summit we travel to the Kabili-Sepilok forest reserve. This reserve is used by students and scientists from all over the world and is also used by the Wildlife Department for their Orang-utan Rehabilitation project. We finish our challenge by assisting with some practical projects, making a real difference to the conservation efforts in the area and having the opportunity to have a behind the scenes guided tour of the Orang-utan sanctuary.

In order to do this I need your help to raise €5,000. I will be putting my own contributions from the money I earn on a regular basis. I will also be organizing a few events to raise money which I will keep you all informed about.
I will keep this blog up to date on my day to day progression trying to raise the money. If we’re successful I’ll be able to write about my experiences in Borneo and post pictures. If we don’t manage to reach the target, we still will have helped greatly an animal in serious danger of extinction.
Your thoughts and input are important to me, so please let me know what you think :)

Thanks for your support,

About my charity
ISPCA National Animal Centre
About the ISPCA – Registered Charity CHY 5619 The ISPCA (Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes some of Ireland’s most abused, neglected and cruelty treated animals. In 2002 the ISPCA National Animal Centre in County Longford was opened. This purpose built animal rehabilitation centre is home to some of Ireland’s most abused animals. Staff and volunteers are called upon to deal with animals that have been subjected to the most horrendous cruelty and neglect you could imagine and calls to the ISPCA National Animal Cruelty Helpline 1890 515 515 have escalated beyond comprehension. With a small team of five ISPCA Animal Welfare Inspectors for the entire country, along with affiliated voluntary societies, they investigate animal welfare complaints of cruelty, neglect and abuse. When a call is received from a concerned member of the public about an animal they feel has been subjected to mistreatment, an inspector covering that area will investigate the situation and depending on the severity of the case, the The ISPCA depends on voluntary charitable donations from members of the public to continue their work but funds are now insufficient to meet the demands placed on their services. We all appreciate times are hard but we also know we must continue to promote a duty of care for all animals. Please help the ISPCA ensure animals are valued and cared for, not neglected or abandoned when times get tough.
