My Personal Message Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page. I will be heading off to Pondicherry in India during July 2010 to work for two weeks on behalf of Habitat for Humanity, helping to build or renovate houses for some of the worlds poorest people. I would very much appreciate your support in helping me to raise funds for this charity.With an annual per capita income of $300, many Indian families are unable to afford a decent home and it is estimated that the total shortage of adequate housing is some 50-60 million units. Habitat for Humanity began operations in India in 1983 and it is now one of Habitat’s largest country programs. Pondicherry, on the Bay of Bengal, was one of the areas badly affected by the 2004 Tsunami and many of its inhabitants are still trying to rebuild thier shattered lives. Unlike other housing charities, Habitat projects involve volunteers working and living alongside the communities they assist, offering a unique insight into their lives and culture as well as making a significant difference to the quality of those lives and often to the lives of the volunteers themselves.
