My Personal Message

Hello,

I'm running my first marathon (26.2 miles) in my home city of Dublin on October 29th 2012.

When I first took up running two years ago, my achievements consisted of being able to run a few minutes without keeling over! Now, with two half marathons under my belt, it's time for the next challenge!

Training has been tough and not without injuries but I've hit my 20 miles training target and feel confident about crossing that finish line at Merrion Square. One of the reasons I am so determined is that I believe I have chosen a fantastic charity to support; The Children's Sunshine Home and LauraLynn House.

The Children's Sunshine Home and LauraLynn House support children with life limiting conditions and their families by providing high quality transitional care, home support, respite, crisis and end-of-life care.

It is Ireland's only Children's Hospice, which I find incredible since there are over 42 in the UK. Also, it is completely self-funded, without Government funding and that is why support from people like you and I is vital to ensure they can reach as many children as possible and make the most of what they rightly call 'short and precious lives.'

You can donate using the "sponsor me now" button below via credit or debit card. You can be assured that your transaction on the mycharity.ie website is very secure.

Any donation no matter how small is hugely appreciated so please give what you can and show your support.

Thanks a million,

Mick
LauraLynn, Ireland's Children's Hospice

Tragically, almost six children die every week in Ireland from a life-limiting condition and LauraLynn is still the only hospice in Ireland to care for these children. We are totally reliant on kind donations from our supporters to provide our hospice services.

LauraLynn provides home-support, respite and end-of-life care, to children with life-limiting conditions. Over the last year, we have introduced Sibling Camps, a full Bereavement Support Programme, and an Early Start Group for parents with very sick babies and toddlers.  We have just launched our pilot in-home respite care services - LauraLynn@Home - making our services accessible to even more families who badly need our help.

While we cannot change a child's diagnosis, with YOUR help we can improve the quality of a child's life.

Thank you for helping to make the most of short and precious lives. Your support means so much to us.
