My Personal Message

UPDATE 28th October
Well the sun shone and I was passed by Batman on Clonskeagh road but overall a great experience - all the Crusaders made it home with the first of our bunch running 2hrs 56 mins which is a ripper of a time. I managed 4:17 which im pretty happy with. Again thanks to everyone who donated to the cause - the Clinic in Ennis will be delighted to receive the many generous donations which will help so many people.

I wont bother ye for another 12 mths!!

UPDATE 22 October

THANKS!! for the overewhelming support so far (especially to all my overseas and Dublin friends who may not get any benefit at all from the clinic and are obviously in it just to see me sweat and go through massive pain).

On the video on you tube - (see below) there is a girl in a walking frame - since the video last year she is now able to take 15 steps on her own - for her that is a huge success and you by donating have directly improved the her life and that of her family.

Meanwhile we have hit "peak miles" - which is running speak for 21 miles with four hills in between - legs felt like concrete afterwards. I have upped my goal to 1,000 euros as I have some offline donations (Thanks Johnno for pushing me over the edge - you will be delighted to know that the Sawdoctors are number one again.....)

Five days to go / Three pairs of runners gone through. Talk to you all next week!

ORIGINAL MESSAGE

Well somehow a 10k fun run has turned into a slightly longer jog round the roads of Dublin in October. Yes indeed, just to see if im as bad a runner as I am a soccer player I have signed up for the Dublin City Marathon.
So.....

Why: A bet in a pub / impending middle age / met a great bunch of people who run for a good cause
When: 27th October
Who for: The Clare Crusaders

So Marko - why the Clare Crusaders then.....

- Well they are one of the largest running groups in the Marathon
- Based in Ennis
- Raise funds to help children with various learning and physical challenges access therapy in the West of Ireland

If you get a few minutes - have look at the brilliant video below which may explain why so many people in Clare and all over the world are scraping out of bed every week and hitting the roads for this cause - hopefully it will help you feel bulletproof also and can reach into the pockets and give us a hand out.
