Sponsor a Mile...
Here is your opportunity to sponsor a mile of my swim! For every donation of 50 or more towards my fundraising, you can pick one mile of my 42-mile swim and be my sponsor for that mile. During that mile of my swim you will get a text message (if I have a mobile number for you) to let you know how I'm getting on. If I can get sponsors for every mile of my swim, that will raise over 2000 for my charities, which would be great! :)
There are a list of the miles that are still open here. Pick one, sponsor me and include in your message which mile you want to sponsor. If you've already sponsored me and want to pick your mile, email me at lisa@arockieswim.com. You can also email me on your mobile number if I don't have it and you want to get that text.
Let's start counting down those miles!!

Hi all,
As many of you know, I have worked part-time with children for about 10 years now through swimming teaching. I love working with children, it's so rewarding and they've provided me with so many smiles and laughs over the years. So when I went to choosing charities to support for my two-way Channel Swim attempt next September, one of them had to be a children's charity. I picked the Jack and Jill Children's Foundation.
The Jack and Jill Foundation provide home respite for children up to four years of age who suffer from severe developmental delay and associated problems, requiring extensive medical and nursing care at home. Usually these children cannot function at birth and require 24 hour care. Jack and Jill provide funding to allow the family to hire a carer or nurse in order for them to get a break from this 24 hour caring role of looking after their Special Needs child. The testimonials on their website show exactly how much this help is appreciated by these families and why it is worth supporting the charity.
I would very much appreciate your support in helping me to raise funds for this charity. It makes all of that training and those 7 degree C (44 degrees F) winter sea swims worthwhile! Remember, I'm aiming to be the first Irish person to swim from England to France AND BACK AGAIN! It's a lot of training, a lot of time, a lot of effort. But it's all worth it if I can make a difference to families who need it.
You can donate using the "sponsor me now" button below via credit or debit card. You can be assured that your transaction on the mycharity.ie website is very secure. You will automatically receive an e-mail from me thanking you for your support, and acknowledging the amount of your donation. Any donation no matter how small is hugely appreciated.
Many thanks in advance for your support,
Lisa :o)

About my charity
The Jack & Jill Childrens Foundation
The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation provides direct funding, to families of children with brain damage who suffer severe intellectual and physical developmental delay, enabling them to purchase home respite care. These are children who as a result of their condition require intensive home nursing care. The Foundation gives these families the Gift of time, time to do the things that we so often take for granted like shopping, taking their other children to the park, a night’s sleep etc. Jack and Jill needs to raise over €3 million per year to provide these services. Less than 18% of our budget comes from the Government so we rely on innovative fundraising campaigns to reach our target. Please help us, to help our families by making a donation or by holding a fundraising event on our behalf.
