Update 30th January 2009

Million Metre Swimathon: (UL Arena: Saturday 31st January 2009)
After many weeks rest following the channel swim the Limerick Masters swimmers are eagerly looking forward to a long day at the UL Arena tomorrow where with the help of many local and munster swimmers they are hoping to achieve a total of one million metres and raise 10K to achieve their target

Update:Tuesday 9th September
They made it.
Just before 5am this morning the phones were ringing in Ireland to say that the two teams had made it all the way to France. Philip Mudge and Breda McNamara swam in to France for their teams with times of 14hrs 47 mins 03 secs and 15hrs 12 mins respectively. They have conquered the channel and it wasn't easy.

Update: Monday 8th September: 17:45pm
All four swimmers for each team have completed their first hour and have covered 7 miles of the crossing almost 1/3 of the way there.

Update:Monday 8th September: 1:30pm

Just after 1pm today Darren Quinn and Greg Scanlan of Limerick Masters Swimmers braved the water to start the channel swim. Over the course of the next 16 hours or so all 8 swimmers will take their turn and swim for one hour at a time. the boats are packed with provisions and they hope to make it to the beach in france sometime around 5am Tuesday the 9th of September.

Hello Visitors,

Thanks for visiting Limerick Mastres Channel Swim fundraising page. On Sunday the 7th of September 2008 eight Limerick Masters swimmers departed for Dover in England with the ambition of swimming the English Channel. These swimmers are swimming in two relary teams and sometime between the 8th and 15th of September they hope to swim all the way across to Calais in France. The teams are:
Breda McNamara, Marcella O'Neill, Greg Scanlan and John Battles
Darren Quinn, Thomas Quinn, Tommy Maloney and Philip Mudge.

The swimmers are raising much needed funds for research for the Muscular Dystrophy Ireland charity and would very much appreciate your support in helping them to raise funds.

Please read a few words about Muscular Dystrophy Ireland below. You can donate using the "sponsor me now" button below via credit or debit card.
