My Personal Message

Hi,

Thanks for visiting my personal fundraising page. The Irish Cancer Society charity is a very worthy cause and I would very much appreciate your support in helping me to raise funds for this charity.

I am a Cancer Survivor. In May 2008, I had major surgery - an open radical prostatectomy - for Prostate cancer. 28 months on and I'm doing very well.

My prime aim in this Marathon is to inspire those dealing with Cancer in their own everyday lives, and also families, friends and carers who are also affected by Cancer. There is life after cancer! I'm targeting 3:18:00 in the marathon. This will be my 20th Marathon. It won't, by far, be my fastest, but it certainly will be, for me, the most significant race I have ever run.

I am running for two charities: The Irish Cancer Society and Cork ARC (see separate fundraising page). I used the services of both when both facing and recovering from Cancer and found their help absolutely wonderful. Their services are vital for Cancer patients and their families. I now do whatever I can to assist these organisations. Please help them.

Please read a few words about The Irish Cancer Society below. You can donate using the "sponsor me now" button below via credit or debit card. You can be assured that your transaction on the mycharity.ie website is very secure. You will automatically receive an e-mail from me thanking you for your support, and acknowledging the amount of your donation. Any donation no matter how small is hugely appreciated.

Many thanks in advance for your support,

John

About my charity

Irish Cancer Society

The Irish Cancer Society is the national charity dedicated to preventing cancer, saving lives from cancer and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer through patient care, research and education.

The Society is financed entirely by voluntary contributions from the public and receives no government funding. We rely on thousands of dedicated volunteers from around the country to help with our fundraising activities. We are the largest voluntary funders of Cancer Research in Ireland, and we also provide support and nursing care for people at every step of their cancer journey.

Help us continue to deliver our much needed services throughout Ireland. To see a full list of our upcoming events, please see click here (www.cancer.ie/events) and get involved! If you are setting up a fundraising page on MyCharity.ie, please register your event with us first so that we can provide you with fundraising materials and assist you with your fundraising.
