My Personal Message
Be a 'MOVER' for the 'SHAKERS'...
On April 13th, 2010, David Walsh will set off from the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on his 20,000 km 'Pedal For Parkinson's' Ride to Cape Town. David is a true 'Mover' for the 'Shakers'. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's at the age of just 38, but his response to this has been an inspiration to everyone who has met him since - and so this journey gives people a chance to show their support by sponsoring him.
The Belfast to Cape Town Odyssey has been a dream that David has worked towards ever since he first discovered he had Parkinson's - and he will become the first person with a Neurological Disease ever to attempt anything like this, breaking a whole selection of records in the process.
Needless to say, having Parkinson's makes cycling long distances very difficult... and so 1 km for David can feel like 5km would for anyone else... Yet he will Pedal 20,000 km for Parkinson's... passing through 20 countries, on 3 Continents, en route. This Odyssey will be a huge challenge for David, however, his drive and determination to achieve this goal means that by sometime inthe middle of next year, David will arrive at the Odyssey finish line in Cape Town, South Africa.
To Sponsor David on this amazing journey, simply click on the 'Donate' button. Much more information to follow, including route details, ways to get involved, photos, blogs, Facebook & Twitter links... & much more...
Once again, thank you for visiting David Walsh's Pedal For Parkinson's Odyssey fundraising page. The Parkinson's Association of Ireland (PAI) charity are doing essential & life-enhancing for people with Parkinson's, like David, and so we would very much appreciate your support in helping us to raise funds for the PAI.
We initially aim to raise a minimum of €20,000 Euro from this event - 1 Euro for Every Kilometre David will have cycled on his way from the Odyssey Arena in Belfast to Cape Town. Those who donate 100 Euros or more will be sent the official 'Pedal For Parkinson's' merchandise - & they will have a 100 km stage segment of the journey named after them on our interactive map and publications.
There is some information below on th PAI - but to find out more about David's journey from the Odysey Belfast to Odyssey Cape Town, and everything else you might need to know about Parkinson's, go to www.Parkinsons.ie .
