My Personal Message
***You can sponsor me until 6th July 2011***
Women’s mini marathon is taking place, June 6th 2011 in Dublin at 3pm.
It’s the largest womens only event in the world, covering a distance of 10km
I will be walking the marathon (fast) and hope to beat previous walking record of 10kms in 1hr 27 mins.
I’m taking this opportunity to raise money for the Irish cancer society.
I haven’t chosen a particular type or area of cancer to support as I feel they will know where the money is needed most.
The Irish cancer society work around the clock helping families, friends and patients throughout all stages of the illness.
There are tons of worthy causes out there that deserve funds and the women’s mini marathon is a great way to help charities all over the world in need.
However, I feel quite strongly towards all the hard work the Irish Cancer Society do and for that reason I am supporting them.
I appreciate any support you can offer, big, small, huge or tiny.
As Tesco put it 'every little helps'.
Fingers crossed the promised Irish heat wave (above 15C) kicks in just in time for this great event.
Don't have a credit or debit card and want to support me?
That's ok! I have a good ole fashioned sponsorship card. Drop me an email, text or facebook message with your donatation amount.
Thanks for all your help
Gillian
SO THE DAY ARRIVED, THE RAIN HELD OFF AND IT WAS A SUPER SUCCESS.
I DIDN'T QUITE MAKE MY TARGET DUE TO A VERY SLOW START BUT I WAS JUST 3 MINUTES BEHIND FINISHING ON 1 HOUR AND 30 MINS (will verify this tomorrow when results are in the Herald)
THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND HELPING ME RAISE FUNDS FOR A VERY GOOD CAUSE AND WELL DONE TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART IN WOMEN'S MINI MARATHON 2011 |
Irish Cancer Society
The Irish Cancer Society is the national charity dedicated to preventing cancer, saving lives from cancer and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer through patient care, research and education. The Society is financed entirely by voluntary contributions from the public and receives no government funding. We rely on thousands of dedicated volunteers from around the country to help with our fundraising activities. We are the largest voluntary funders of Cancer Research in Ireland, and we also provide support and nursing care for people at every step of their cancer journey. Help us continue to deliver our much needed services throughout Ireland. To see a full list of our upcoming events, please see click here (www.cancer.ie/events) and get involved!
