My Personal Message
Hi everyone,
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. The Irish Cancer Society charity is a very worthy cause and I would very much appreciate your support in helping me to raise funds for this charity.
The Irish Cancer Society is a very special charity to me. On 1st Oct 2008 my Grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. This is news that nobody wants to hear. However, with her incredible emotional strength, and the wonderfull support of the family GP and the District Nurse from Fermoy and the Irish Cancer Society, my Grandmother was able to have a peaceful death at home just a few weeks later. The Irish Cancer Society's Night Nursing Service were a great help to both her, my Grandfather and all the family.
The Irish Cancer Society are dedicated to finding ways of preventing and curing cancer and providing comfort to those who are terminally ill with cancer. They receive no government funding. Their "Daffodil Nurses", who stay up all night caring for the dying, are paid for entirely out of voluntary donations. Please support this very worthy organisation.
On Monday 21st September I became the yougest and fastest Irish person to swim the English Channel in a time of 10hrs 19mins. It was very tough two weekd waiting for the weather to clear enough for a safe swim. Eventually it did, and I got the perfect conditions. Starting at 1:41am from Samphire Hoe in England, I swam through the night and into the following lunchtime before landing at Cap-Gris-Nez in France. It was an amazing swim and worth every bit of the pain and suffering needed to get there. Please help me reach the €10,000 mark soon!
You can donate using the "sponsor me now" button below via credit or debit card. Your transaction on this website is very secure. Any donation no matter how small is hugely appreciated.
Many thanks in advance for your support,
Owen. |
