My Personal Message

Hey Guys,

The Build It for Liam campaign is aiming to raise €30k before Christmas so that we can build a specialised bedroom for Liam Hagan who lives in Threemilehouse, just outside Monaghan Town.

As well as a bedroom for him (which he wants decorated with Lightning McQueen, from the cartoon film Cars!!) it will also have a specially adapted bath and a specialised area for him to have his bandages changed. The room will be fully wheelchair adaptable. There will also be a padded area outside of his bedroom that will have special soft covering that will enable him to go outside and play safely.

The Hagan family and DEBRA Ireland are driving this initiative. The family and the community of Threemilehouse and the town of Monaghan were incredibly generous in 2008 when they raised nearly €40k for DEBRA Ireland which helped the charity to expand our patient support services.

The Build It for Liam Campaign is calling on the generosity of people from Monaghan again. To date many of the local shops and business are behind the campaign and are displaying the Build It For Liam Posters and collection boxes. Loads of activities have been orgnanised from street collections, to motorbike runs, gala dinners and a big musical night as the grand finale!!

You can donate using the "sponsor me now" button below via credit or debit card. You can be assured that your transaction on the mycharity.ie website is very secure. You will automatically receive an e-mail from me thanking you for your support, and acknowledging the amount of your donation. Any donation no matter how small is hugely appreciated.

Many thanks in advance for your support,

Susan - DEBRA Ireland, Fundraising Manager

About my charity

DEBRA Ireland

DEBRA Ireland is the national charity established in 1988 to provide patient support services and to drive research into treatments and cures for those living with the genetic skin condition, epidermolysis bullosa (EB). Our patients who have EB, have skin that is as delicate and fragile as the wings of a butterfly, and just as easily damaged.  EB has been described by a Consultant Dermatologist in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital as “easily the most debilitating and devastating disease I have ever seen.”   The condition is extremely painful and leads to disability and deformity.  Many of our patients who survive childhood face the frightening reality that they could develop a very aggressive form of skin cancer, due to the constant breakdown of their skin.

DEBRA Ireland offers hope and support to these patients, which is only possible thanks to the ongoing generosity from people like you.
