My Personal Message A Chairde,On August 15th I'll be hopping up on a bike and cycling 200 odd miles from Conamara to Stabannan in County Louth, over three days, and badgering people along the way to donate the price of a pint to the Jack and Jill Foundation in order to help families cope with the enormous trauma and work of caring for an extremely ill child. If you know me enough to drink a pint in my company then PLEASE donate the price of a pint to this charity (€4 average!). If you don't know me, but know of families who are caring for ill children, then please do likewise. If you are not in a position to donate at all then please spread the word. About my charity The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation provides direct funding, to families of children with brain damage who suffer severe intellectual and physical developmental delay, enabling them to purchase home respite care. These are children who as a result of their condition require intensive home nursing care. The Foundation gives these families the Gift of time, time to do the things that we so often take for granted like shopping, taking their other children to the park, a night’s sleep etc. Jack and Jill needs to raise over €3 million per year to provide these services. Less than 18% of our budget comes from the Government so we rely on innovative fundraising campaigns to reach our target.
