About Welcome Home
Welcome Home was set up in 1990 to raise funds for Fr. Peter McVerry to support his work with young homeless people in Dublin. Initially, a charity cycle was organised from Dublin to Wexford with participants raising money through sponsorship. The Wexford Charity Cycle remains the main fundraising event for Welcome Home. In 2005, 300 cyclists took part and raised €255k. Welcome Home also organises an annual Golf Classic which raises in excess of €60k and has been strongly supported since 1994. The Welcome Home Christmas Appeal, now supported by Leinster Rugby, has become a strong contributor to fundraising. Donations from individuals and corporates have always been important to Welcome Home and online donations at www.welcomehome.ie are becoming an increasingly important element each year.
