Oblate Mission Development Office

The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate are a Catholic international congregation of 4400 priests and brothers. Alongside lay associates we serve in 67 countries worldwide amongst the poorest of the poor. We are present in such countries as Sri Lanka since 1847, South Africa since 1852, Haiti since 1942 and the Democratic Republic of Congo since 1931. The Mission Development Office in Dublin was set up in 2004 and its task is to “Increase knowledge of, funding for and interaction with the Oblate Missions.” The director Father Paul Byrne omi and development officer Barbara McCauley process applications for funding received from all around the Oblate world and, with the help of an assessment committee, seek funding for projects and initiatives via various channels, namely; the resources of our own congregation; Misean Cara, an organisation created by Irish Aid for missionary congregations; private and corporate donors.
