The Variety Club of Ireland Children's Charity (Tent 41)

The Variety Club of Ireland - Children's Charity, is dedicated to improving the lives of sick disabled and disadvantaged children in Ireland and has been doing so since its formation in 1952.

Through our Mobility Programme we have put over 55 Variety Club Sunshine Coaches on the roads of Ireland, donated countless Easy Rider wheelchairs to disabled children and so far in 2009 we have presented two Liberty Swings. The Liberty Swing allows children with disabilities to play, socialise and integrate with children of ability in an 'all-abilities' playground setting.

This new innovation in Ireland will transform the lives of wheelchair bound children, giving them the freedon to 'fly through the air' and in most cases for the first time, experience a real sense of movement.

The Variety Club of Ireland plans to install a Liberty Swing in every county in Ireland within the next 2 - 3 years; promoting freedom and inclusion for all of Ireland's wheelchair bound children.

Many stars from the showbusiness walk of life give generously of their time to make fundraising events a special occasion for all. 
Through the generous support of our Irish sponsors and those who fundraise on our behalf we have been able to provide much needed passenger coaches to worthy children's organisations around Ireland. These coaches enable children to "venture into the sunshine" allowing them to visit horizons they have only imagined. The coaches, which can be specially adapted for handicapped children, are used to transport children to therapy, treatment, special events and enrichment programmes.
