Cork Simon Community

History

Volunteers founded Cork Simon Community in 1971 in response to growing homelessness in the city. While voluntarism remains a core value at Cork Simon, the Community has grown to provide a broad spectrum of projects and services in support of people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Full-time staff now work side-by-side with volunteers to provide emergency accommodation,  high-support residential accommodation, supported independent living, street outreach services and youth projects. Cork Simon provides accommodation for 103 people every night. The Community depends on the generosity of the public to raise almost a third of its annual running costs.
