Down Syndrome Ireland

Organisation ID: CHY06062
History
Down Syndrome Ireland was established in 1971, by parents of children with Down Syndrome. We have pioneered the approach of personal development for persons with Down syndrome and we are committed to the acceptance of Down syndrome as normal, natural and valuable within society. Down Syndrome Ireland is the largest organisation representing people with an intellectual disability in Ireland. Our new challenge is to establish our own National Resource Centre which will accommodate our specialists and head office functions. It will provide new standards and ensure that all those involved with people with Down syndrome have access to the improved expectations and current thinking on the abilities of people with Down syndrome
