Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue

Despite our name, we operate throughout the Wicklow and Dublin Mountains! The team is entirely voluntary and is available 24 hours/365 day a year to assist anyone who has become lost, injured or trapped in the mountains.

We have been rescuing people since 1983 and have seen a steady increase in the amount of incidents each year. Because of this we need constant training and increased funding.

To reduce the wear and tear on equipment and to improve efficiency, we have decided to construct a purpose-built Rescue Base. For the last 27 years, we have had to keep vehicles and life-saving equipment at different team members’ homes. As the demand on the team has increased we’ve decide to take this leap sooner rather than later. Needless to say, the team will be under a lot of pressure in the short term, as we fundraise to meet the cost of construction. We are asking for assistance throughout the community, and for people to contribute in any way they can.

Every contribution is valuable and goes directly towards saving lives in the mountains.
